The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The latest Far Cry game that players dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for embracing action and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while telling engaging, politically driven narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two visionaries whose creations have exemplified all of those things.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' style by having a fresh setting and cast of characters in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX partners constantly supports me with their constant belief and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone series. Each game is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can shift from season to season, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and turbulent perspective, is a dream come true. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our shared bold, ambitious style to the television.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
