Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak came to an end by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, however will the Premier League leaders recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against AI, fans and a range of special visitors.
In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.
Murs' new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Life
Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a benefit game the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "My side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I won't force football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he said.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Forecasts
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
Olly's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their past two matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.
West Ham's only on the road win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno was previously that team's coach.
Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?
I am going to choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
The guest's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.
My son advised me to get Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
The forward will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.
They have not had great success on the road this season, and Brighton are always strong at home. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a threat.
The analyst's prediction: 2-1
The singer's prediction: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge game for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six matches.
Fulham have have plenty of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.
As for Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are clearly able of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the close of October.
However I am not do that. Instead, I really need to continue opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.
Looking at the home side's home form, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
Olly's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but they have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
AI's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a tough one to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in all competitions, but might they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
