The EU could “act quickly and firmly” against what it deems “unjustified” visa bans imposed by the United States against five Europeans working on fighting digital hatred and disinformation, an EU official has said.
EU Officials Condemn US Move as ‘Intimidation’
European leaders such as Emmanuel Macron accused the US administration of “bullying and threats”, following the travel bans targeted individuals who have been at the heart of campaigns to introduce laws governing American tech companies.
“For far too long, European activists have spearheaded organised efforts to pressure US companies to punish American viewpoints they disagree with,” stated a senior US official online. “The current administration will not stand for these egregious acts of censorship beyond its borders.”

Germany, Spain, the UK and a chorus of EU officials joined France in criticizing the move.
