England's Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's last Test match for New Zealand was versus the English side in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be during the forthcoming Ashes contest in the host nation.
The ex- Kiwi seamer is expected to be available for the opening match due to his involvement in the ILT20 tournament, which begins on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, 36, took up a role as England's fast bowling consultant in the warmer months after taking 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Commenting as the English team for the opening of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was named, he said of his participation: "We are still evaluating the situation at the moment.
"We'll see the outcome over the next little while."
English pace icon Stuart Broad had stated the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the series, which begins on 21 November.
"I don't think there's ever a bad Australian cricket team," he remarked.
"Our focus is firmly on what we're trying to do. In my opinion the quality of [the English] side that's going out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an absolute cracker, that series. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I think the entire cricketing community is."
However, prior to England head to Perth for the first Ashes match, they take on New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
