The American boxer defeated her Canadian opponent in Canada to secure the combined 154-pound championship and emerge as a three-division global titleholder.

This veteran US athlete delivered a dominant performance at the Canadian venue, outmaneuvering the local hero over the full fight.

Judges awarded the bout unanimously in her favor as Mayer won the WBA crown and the vacant WBC and WBO championships.

"I've won a WBO belt previously, but I've never had the WBA or WBC strapped around my waist, so this is particularly meaningful," Mayer stated.

Mayer, who is also the current WBO titleholder at 147 pounds, earned her initial global championship at super-featherweight. Her record now stands at 22 wins and two defeats.

Fight Breakdown

Mayer rapidly found into her rhythm behind a precise lead punch, varying her offense to head and body.

Despite giving up two inches to the taller Spencer, she commanded the range and pace for the entire fight.

Spencer, aged 40, enjoyed a short rally in the fourth stanza when a pair of right hands connected, but Mayer reasserted herself, closing the eighth with four powerful hooks and a wide points victory looked certain.

Her rival was cut and bruised under each eye at the conclusion as the local boxer suffered a third loss in 13 fights.

"She's a tough, durable fighter. Props to her, she didn't have to accept this bout," the champion commented. "She took a big risk taking on a boxer of my caliber. I always come forward and deliver demanding contests."

What's Next?

Mayer restated her career ambition of becoming an universally recognized titleholder after a back-to-back victory.

She had hoped to meet Wales' a welterweight champion, the WBC titleholder, in an unification bout.

The match fell through mainly because of promotional and broadcast complications.

If a fight with Price - who is scheduled to be back in action in the United Kingdom in December - does not materialise for the American, she might seek undisputed status at 154 pounds against IBF champion another contender.

"The most important thing is that I can choose," she declared.

"I'd love to do both - go back down to 147lb for total supremacy, then move up and defend at light-middleweight."

A possible mega-bout may also emerge in the works against Claressa Shields, the self-proclaimed 'top female boxer' and fully unified triple-division titleholder, who presently owns belts at heavyweight.

American Shields, presently a unattached boxer, is attracting interest from several promoters, such as one promotional firm.

If Shields decided to drop to super-middleweight, Mayer - although it is not a natural weight - has stated she would happily face her there.
